Dr. Bob Curran of Ireland (Zombies: A Field Guide to the Walking Dead) was a gravedigger in his youth, and perhaps that is what led to his adult fascination with zombies. The movies have portrayed zombies as the walking dead, slack-jawed, skin rotting, with a distinct taste for human flesh. While the zombies we have come to know are derived mainly from Hollywood, Haiti, and New Orleans, interestingly, there are similar stories from across the globe going all the way back to ancient times from places like China, Japan, Romania, and Poland.
