Happy New Year to you all! The Chinese Year of the Wood Snake begins on January 29th. Here’s some of what you can expect:
IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE
Your ability to do reconnaissance work will flourish in 2025. This means you’ll be better than ever at scoping things out and getting the lay of the land before venturing into risky situations. Expect your intuition to be heightened. You can leap forward and quickly retreat. You can lie in wait and go mainly undetected.
You may also feel a strong desire to climb this year, as snakes slither up trees. This could mean a trip to the mountains, a move to a towering apartment or a climb within your career – leading to more money and responsibility.The element of wood in this year of the “wood snake” points to personal growth and the flowering of creative abilities and endeavors. Whether you have the time for it or not, you may suddenly decide to start creating artwork or crafts or engage in other artist activities. Expect some impulsivity from yourself and others, which will lead to surprise outcomes.Don’t expect to see your way through this year, so much as to feel your way through it. Your intuition will be especially sharp, so pay attention to your sixth sense.
The good news is that this ability is likely to help you realize your deepest wishes in the next twelve months. Because of this, you may take on your most ambitious project yet!Gravitate towards physical warmth and loving energy. Earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo) will find this year both challenging and invigorating. The first half of 2025 will be the most significant, with three Major Arcana cards making an appearance from January through April. This is when the new government, your workplace management or ruling matters in your personal life will be causing the most changes. But expect the second half of the year to be about bucking that tide with several combative sword and wand cards appearing.
January – Strength (card upside down)Many Americans felt enervated by the inauguration of Donald Trump. But this sense of having been weakened by it is partially an illusion. As the year goes by, this truth will become more and more evident to the majority of the population. Women’s and minority groups in particular will lead the way in illustrating how the lower branches of government will uphold the U.S. Constitution in the next 12 months. During this administration, there will be much more activity going on in the Congress and court-level of government than in the presidency itself.
February – 8 of Cups
As in January, real conditions will be primarily felt in the realm of emotion and spirit. But as a wise man once said, “In life, it’s not what you feel that’s important, it’s what you do.” Common citizens will be starting to discover how much power they actually possess – on both sides of the political spectrum. Although you may be tempted to self-medicate and drink or eat your negative feelings away during February, that’s absolutely the wrong path to take! If you don’t test the “electrical” fencing of governmental or social restraints, you will never realize just how powerful each of us is and how many people actually share your views.Embrace February 14th as not only a day to give spouses and sweethearts tokens of your love, but friends and other family members as well. Snake years don’t go well if the people we care about are feeling like they’ve been left out in the cold.
March – Temperance
Polls show that Americans are planning to drink less alcohol this year, so the Temperance card is very apropos in this spread. This trend towards wanting to drink less indicates that people want to be more vigilant in 2025 in many areas of their lives.Expect old problems and unfinished business to surface in your life this month. But also expect yourself to be more equipped than usual to cope with them. This is the time to deal with niggling issues that you’ve been putting off and end March with a feeling of satisfaction in getting past the icky stuff in your life. In places where spring is usually late to arrive, expect an early spring this year.
April – The Chariot
Although you’ll be faced with indecision this month, the prevailing wisdom is to “Just go for it” -- whatever that means in your particular situation. The government, too (quite likely the Congress) will face an either-or situation that may be referred to the Supreme Court for a final decision. However, this month and this year will be loaded with questions of legality, many of which will be decided by the lower courts.This is a month when the biggest choice facing most of us may be to choose happiness over pessimism and dismay.
May – 3 of Cups
This is a month that offers much to be celebrated. If you’ve been worried about a health issue, you should see a successful outcome with it. Women’s organizations, especially on a national level will be celebrating a victory. On the global level, we may see a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine or some other international conflict.
June – Page of Swords
(card upside down)The steadiness we usually expect from this card is negated by it appearing upside down in this Tarot spread. So, what should usually be a calm period will probably be rather tumultuous. Expect disruptions in national and international air travel. This may have to do with a natural disaster, which the new administration seems incapable or unwilling to effectively dealing with. But, by the end of June, a sense of normalcy will be restored.
July – King of Cups
This is a month of healing for our nation. Perhaps from tragic events in the past several weeks. Big business will get some boosts from the government, perhaps in the form of tax breaks. But much of the governmental favors to the billionaires in the U.S. will be kept as covert as possible.Speaking of healing/health, Trump signed a series of executive orders on Monday (January 20th) that will probably impact roughly 24 million Americans, including large numbers of citizens in so-called red states. These orders are part of a broader plan to reduce national healthcare spending, but they are likely to make health insurance less accessible, particularly in the states that did not expand Medicaid. These changes are most likely to impact people in the states of Texas, Florida, and Georgia.On a more positive note, July is favored for vacationing and some seaside visits.
August – 3 of Swords
The Trump administration faces its biggest resistance yet in this hot, steamy last month of summer. The number of lawsuits against this regime will have reached an overwhelming number! August will be fraught with adversity and disappointments – with inclement weather fanning the flames. No matter where you stand politically, you are likely to be saddened by the state of affairs in the U.S. in August.Meanwhile, an international conflict threatens to explode, but Trump seems determined to prevent Americans from being drawn into the conflict. He is not a fan of war.
September – 10 of Wands
Despite a chaotic political scene, Americans have been unusually industrious and productive in the past 9 months. The stock market is likely to be quite strong and U.S. unemployment very low. But the reversal of drug-price reductions and healthcare coverage policies by this administration is still suppressing start-ups of new businesses. Inflation, too, has not been reduced much since January. And supply-chain problems continue in most stores. Mitigating factors like bird flu will greatly influence the availability and, yes, the ever-important “price of eggs.”
October – 9 of Pentacles
This is a month about who’s thriving in business and who isn’t. The billionaires will be doing better than ever, with incredible tax breaks and workers unions crippled by right-wing misapprehensions. They have succeeded for decades in getting the working class to vote against its own interests. While this administration’s “America First” policies will benefit our country’s national security and federal coffers. (Certainly, we will benefit from a stronger U.S. military presence in Greenland) -- we may be finally discovering that the true “enemies within” are our own wealth-sucking and hoarding corporations.
November – 10 of Swords
This month is about unfinished business and striving to clean up messes on a national and local level. One of the down sides of the mass deportations Trump intends to carry out is the loss of essential workers in farming, construction, housekeeping, hospitality and other sectors of the economy. So, expect the cost of all of these services to rise considerably. New housing costs will rise, and fewer homes will be built as a result. Many Americans will begin entertaining at home in the face of soaring restaurant costs. However it manifests itself, voter regret will become very apparent during this month. Sword cards often represent uprisings amongst the population. And the 10 of swords can definitely indicate the figurative or actual death of someone who is in command.
December – Ace of Cups
This card usually symbolizes marriage. But in a nationwide sense this can mean two countries which have been at odds can enter a peaceful accord. This may mean the war in Ukraine is finally brought to an equitable conclusion. Or some other military conflict is finally resolved. Though many Americans will be disgruntled with government and their working conditions, the overall sentiment will be to embrace a pleasant Holiday season and pray for a smoother year ahead.
2025 in General
Although this will be a very fortunate year for some western-zodiac signs, many of us can expect a cloak-and-dagger year wherein mystery, intrigue and espionage will play key roles -- especially in the world of politics. While many of us will feel powerless against the incoming administration, we should be aware that that feeling is just an illusion and many people within the government will successfully act as safeguards against unconstitutional acts.Expect flooding and fire events in some parts of the U.S. which will force local populations to flee to surrounding hills or higher ground.2025 is a year when people’s hearing may be threatened by a virus, a volcanic eruption or even a secret audio weapon, such as the ones cited in reports of the “Havana syndrome.” The recent rash of mysterious “drone” sightings on the East Coast is just the beginning of Americans’ growing sense that our country is being spied on by alien forces, be they earthly or otherwise. It should be noted that these sightings are accompanied by loud booming sounds. Expect these “drone” sightings to expand from the Eastern states to the rest of the country, because I psychically sense that there is some sort of topography mapping being conducted. This also has to do with testing nighttime surveillance abilities. China is the most likely culprit in this, but we should not rule out some kind of extraterrestrial involvement. In keeping with this year’s theme of intrigue, The Academy Awards’ “Best Movie of the Year” in 2025 is likely to come from the mystery or suspense genre.
